The Weekly // Hydration Challenge

Eat more vegetables, work out a few times a week, get enough sleep, drink A LOT of water. Isn't that what most 'Goals Lists' entail? Well, mine do... almost every single health related list I make has those very things on it each and every time. This go around I have decided to tackle one of those very things... as you can see by the title of the post I did a Hydration Challenge!

Water consumption is one of those things where you are either really very good or really very bad at, and I my friends am really very bad at it. It isn't even just water, I am just flat out terrible at consuming liquids in general. It really is quite unfortunate since being well hydrated is so very important since our bodies are like 70% water! Regardless of these facts here is a recap of how my challenge went...

Sunday: I know that a lot of people see Monday as the first day of the week but I tend to lean towards Sunday as the first day of the week, being that the case here we go... I woke up at 10:30am with a terrible migraine and just overall groggy but really needed to get up and be productive since the plan for the day was to head into LA to see one of the best-est ladies around (Emalie) for the day! After popping some Advil and chugging some water I was ready to get going for the day! It was awesome spending a few hours with Em even if it was about a million degrees out. By the time we made it home and I was ready for the work week to start it was 11:45pm. Here is a little breakdown of my liquid intake for the day!

  • 12:00PM 25 OZ WATER
  • 1:00PM 16 OZ ICED COFFEE
  • 2:00PM 8 OZ WATER
  • 7:00PM 24 OZ LEMONADE
  • 7:15PM 25 OZ WATER
  • 98 OZ TOTAL LIQUIDS / 58 OZ TOTAL OF WATER

Monday: The work week is pretty boring for me I need to be at work by 6:30am and I am off by 3:00pm. Typically I don't do too much on week days other than work since my day starts so early. The 5:50am wake up was super easy this morning! A great change from Sundays wake up for sure! Typical boring Monday on this end! Did some grocery shopping after work and was in bed at 11:30pm.

  • 10:00AM 26 OZ ICED COFFEE
  • 10:45AM 25 OZ WATER
  • 1:15PM 8 OZ COFFEE
  • 3:00PM 8 OZ COFFEE
  • 7:00PM 25 OZ WATER
  • 11:00PM 8 OZ WATER
  • 100 OZ TOTAL LIQUIDS  / 58 OZ TOTAL OF WATER

Tuesday: At this point you may start to notice a pattern... I drink A LOT OF COFFEE. Maybe my next weekly challenge should be getting a grip on that. Now I said MAYBE, this is not a done deal as of yet! Up again pretty early at 5:45am and not doing so well I really need to stop going to bed so late on weekdays today is going to be rough I am so sleepy! Kept things pretty lame after work and I am in bed by 10:45pm! WooHoo!

  • 2:45PM 25 OZ WATER
  • 10:45PM 25 OZ WATER
  • 84 OZ TOTAL LIQUIDS / 50 OZ TOTAL OF WATER

Wednesday: Okay, while I managed to get a decent amount of sleep last night I most definitely did not drink enough water and I am feeling it... I am sleepy and groggy and my head is going to explode at any minute. Oh, headaches... I love you; not. Regardless I am up and at them at 5:45am again telling myself to take it easy on the coffee and up the water intake... this is a hydration challenge after all!

Thursday: Oh, hey its Thursday! My favorite day of the work week! I got to bed later than I wanted last night finally hitting the pillow at 11:15pm and up a little later than I planned as well waking up at 5:50am, five minutes can make a big difference that early in the morning! On the plus side I know that I can sleep in finally in just a day but on the negative side once again I am groggy, sleepy and have a sinus headache. Ugh. For the third day in a row I only had 50 OZ of water and am getting to bed later than ideal, clocking in (or would it be out?) at 11:30pm. This is WAY better than my normal self (which is bad I know) but not so good since I want to be at 64 OZ a day at least...

  • 9:30PM 25 OZ WATER
  • 11:00PM 25 OZ WATER

Friday: YES, FINALLY! Tomorrow my bed and I have a long overdue date. Lucky for me too because I feel the start of an ear infection coming on. I must have been clenching my jaw while sleeping last night... bad habits. 5:55am wake up and a fail-ish day of water intake once again! The night owl in me decided to stay up till 12:30pm as well. What is wrong with me?!

  • 8:00PM 25 OZ WATER
  • 11:30PM 25OZ WATER
  • 76 OZ TOTAL LIQUIDS / 50 OZ TOTAL OF WATER

Saturday: Ugh! Why do I do this to myself?! Up early for a weekend at 7:00am but I feel like absolute death... my migraine induced nausea self heads back to bed after grabbing all the ice packs and turning on the diffuser and sleeps until 2:00pm in the AFTERNOON... well their went my Saturday! Because I was in bed until 2:00pm I didn't end up in bed until 2:00am and all of my goals went out the door for the day.

  • 41 OZ TOTAL LIQUIDS / 25 OZ TOTAL OF WATER

So what did you learn about me after seeing how my first weekly challenge went? That I stay up too late, drink too much coffee, not enough water annnnd I am super prone to headaches / migraines? All true. I am getting better at taking in more liquids and cutting down on the coffee though! Maybe the next go around will be a better success as far as the numbers go but the 'adapting' side has been working just fine!
