Décor Inspiration // Kitchen Edition
Sometimes you have to give up on renting the perfect place when you are 1,600 miles away from the location you are looking at and for us that meant not having an in unit washer // dryer and a kitchen that is anything but 'dreamy' or even practical really. Our lease is up in February though so as long as I can make it till then I will be good to go! As you have probably guessed I have been searching for inspiration all over the internet, here is what I am thinking so far...
I have a problem when it comes to buying cutting boards. I want to take a few of my favorites and display them. I have a copper basket that could work well for something similar to the last picture but I will have to see what it looks like once it is all set up.
I am not a fan of clutter but I do like a good display and having my most used items within arms reach while at the stove would be nice. I just need to decide if I prefer having everything at the side of the stove or splitting up the items and having some above as well. Either way I will have to pick up some supplies for this project!
I, Anna, own a great deal of mugs. Never too many of course but a lot... yes. I am very particular when adding a mug to my collection so I think that this could be a really cute way of showing them off and helping the lack of cabinet space I have going for me at this point in time.
There is a HUGE space above one of the counters that doesn't have cabinets. Why!? I have no idea. I wish I did. My solution... shelves! I don't know exactly what I am looking for yet but I know that I want more storage space for things that are annoying like plastic containers and the million and a half tea boxes in my current collection. Of course these things would be in cute baskets before ending up on the shelving, I am not a monster! :)
A few honorable mentions that I will be working on as well...
- Finding a successful way to create more cabinet space where there is none!
- Making my pantry items look cuter by taking them out of bags and putting them into glass jars.
- Somehow making it so that I can see where the spice I want is without having to crawl up onto the counter or pull out a step stool every single time...
- Last but not least LIGHTING, whomever came up with the idea of painting both the outside and inside of these wooden cabinets with a gross brown glossy paint should really rethink most of their adult decisions, I am not sure how but I need to get more light into this kitchen ASAP.
Wish me luck!
