Sunday's in the City! Nº 1
This weekend was totally out of the normal and so adventurous! My friend Courtney is from the Jersey and after a whirlwind three years of Mid-West living she is starting to plan out her big return to the East Coast where she will be in attending NYU and working on a Masters in British and American Literature but before then we are going to make sure she takes in all of the greatest places that Omaha has to offer!
First up on the list... Culprit Cafe and Lauritzen Gardens.
Iced coffee and an egg white frittata with spinach and dill harvarti all covered in a delicious béchamel sauce on fresh maple oat bread was my pick for lunch. I cannot even begin to describe this meal in a way that does it justice. Every piece of the frittata was bursting with different flavors that complemented the others. Don't even get me started on the pesto aioli sauce they used on the side potatoes. If you live within a 100 mile radius of this place, no excuses you MUST try it out.
After being sufficiently stuffed we made our way down to the botanical gardens. I have lived in Omaha for almost four years and live exactly 1.3 miles away from Lauritzen yet have somehow managed to have never been! I know, I know this makes no sense. We are for sure going to revisit once it hits summer and more things are in bloom, like the rose garden that has almost 2,000 rose bushes in it! It was really cool to ride the tram and see the full expanse of over 100 acres that the garden is made up of, this way we know which locations we want to adventure to next time! The conservatory is a place I should plan on frequenting often next winter when we have snow and ice all around. My own little piece of the tropics in the middle of a blizzard sounds good to me.
Now off to plan the next adventure! Hasta!
